Increased Bear Activity Causes warning

posted Aug 22, 2012, 6:49 PM by Joe Kondelis
A female black bear and her cubs rooted through trash, strolled through yards and across decks and pawed at bbq grills near Fishtail, Montana in Stillwater County.
The fact that the bears did get food rewards promted the warning from Montana Warden Paul Luepke.
If in fact you do live in bear areas remember these things:

-- Keep all garbage indoors or in a bearproof container.

-- Thoroughly clean barbecue grills and move them indoors when they are not in use.

-- Take down songbird feeders.

-- Store horse and pet food in a secure shed. Never leave pet food out overnight.

-- Pick up and dispose of rotting fruit or vegetables left from trees and gardens
