Hunter Shoots Grizzly in Montana

posted Nov 26, 2013, 6:11 AM by Joe Kondelis

Wildlife officials report that a hunter shot and wounded a charging female grizzly bear in the Kraft Creek drainage near Condon on Wednesday.

The grizzly, with two cubs, was within about 50 feet of the hunter when it was shot. The hunter immediately called Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

FWP officials say that a deer carcass was found nearby, and that the hunter acted in self-defense.

FWP tracked the grizzly on the ground and in the air as she made her way toward the Mission Mountains.
